About Ombré Brows

Tired of filling in your eyebrows everyday? Are your eyebrows thin and sparse? Want to wake up with your eyebrows done already? Pencil no more because I am currently accepting clients interested in PMU (permanent makeup) brows. A consultation is recommended before this service is performed on a new client. The fee goes toward the PMU service. Below are some great tips and FAQs to read over before the service.

Powder ombré brows gives a light to dark ombré, lighter at the bulb (front) of the brow and gets darker towards the tail. Powder ombré gives a soft powder makeup look that's natural looking.

Using a machine and permanent make-up techniques pigments are inserted into the dermal layer of the skin for a defined soft, shaded shape.

Before Ombré Brows

Proper preparation for a PMU appointment will help to achieve the best healed results, be sure to prepare accordingly.

  • No Botox treatments should be done 3 weeks prior or 4 weeks after procedure
  • No chemical peels 60 days before or after procedure (brows will peel quicker due to chemicals traveling under the skin)
  • No Retinols/Retin-A or other anti-aging/acne creams, or serums containing acids as these will fade brows prematurely
  • Do not work out or sweat heavily the day of the procedure (Or 2 weeks after)
  • Do not tan or have a sunburned face the day of the procedure
  • No waxing or tinting 3 days before procedure
  • Stop taking aspirin, niacin, vitamin E, fish oil, CoQ10 and ibuprofen 48 hours before procedure
  • No alcohol or caffeine 24 hrs before procedure

During Ombré Brows

Appointments can last up to 2 and a half hours. **Please do not bring children or extra guests to your appointment as seating is limited.

During your appointment please ensure your cell phone is on silent mode to prevent distractions.

You will be relaxed and pampered for approximately 2 and a half hours depending on the desired brow look.

Same Day After Ombré Brows

To help minimize scabbing, use a clean q-tip or cotton ball to lightly dab the shaded area with distilled water a few times per hour for the remainder of the day.

1-7 Days After Ombré Brows

Wash the shaded area twice per day followed by applying the aftercare ointment.

  • At the start and end of each day, use your clean fingertips and a mild antibacterial soap, like Cetaphil, to gently cleanse your eyebrows for 10-15 seconds.
  • Avoid using any cleansing products that contain exfoliants or acids (glycolic, lactic, or AHA).
  • Keep in mind the cleansing shouldn't be a thorough scrub-down, it just needs to be done by rubbing the shaded area in a soft, smooth manner.
  • When rinsing, be sure to rinse every trace of soap from the shaded area.
  • Dry the entire eyebrow area completely by blotting it with a clean tissue.
  • Use a clean finger to apply a small amount of the aftercare ointment to the shaded  area. Do not apply the ointment unless the area is dry.
  • Less is more when considering how much ointment to apply; the amount applied to each eyebrow should be comparable in size to half of a grain of rice.
  • Aftercare ointment should only be applied twice per day following the washes to avoid suffocating the skin and interfering with the skin’s natural healing process.

Things To Avoid

**It's critical to avoid the following for 14 days after your PMU procedure.

  • Touching the shaded area except when washing or applying aftercare ointment.
  • Scratching, picking or peeling the shaded area, as it can cause scarring and/or color loss.
  • Applying any makeup, moisturizer, lotion, or sunscreen to your eyebrows.
  • Sun exposure - sun tanning - salon tanning
  • Laser or chemical peels, and any other form of exfoliation.
  • Exercise - participating in sports and activities that induce perspiration
  • Long hot baths or showers - jacuzzis - saunas - swimming
  • Applying any creams to your face or neck containing retinol or glycolic acid.
  • Engaging in tasks like heavy household cleaning where airborne debris can become prevalent.
  • Drinking excessive amounts of alcohol, as it can cause wounds to heal slower.
  • Transportation in open-air-vehicles where strong wind is likely, for example; driving in cars with windows down, convertibles, motorcycles, bicycles, and boats.

Q. How long does PMU Brows last?

A. PMU Brows can last between 2 and 3 years with necessary touch ups.

Q. Is PMU Brows permanent?

A. No, an eyebrow tattoo is permanent, shading is semi-permanent. Pigment is inserted into the dermis layer of the skin making the procedure semi-permanent.

Q. How long does PMU Brows take?

A. The average shading appointment can last from 2 to 2 and a half hours. Nothing is ever rushed during your appointment because I insist on being thorough and taking the time to provide the most beautiful, natural looking brows possible.

Q. Does PMU Brows hurt?

A. Shading can be a little uncomfortable depending on your pain tolerance. I always apply topical numbing cream to help with any discomfort during the procedure. Everyone responds differently to anesthetic.

Q. How long does it take to heal?

A. The eyebrow area will be slightly red after the procedure and color will appear very dark. The color will fade up to 40% as it heals. In the following days, the eyebrows will continue to be dark and you will notice slight scabbing. The brows will lighten in color over time. It takes approximately 7-14 days for the brows to heal, and about a month for the color to fully set in.

Q. How much does PMU Brows cost?

A. Modern Luxe Brows starts at $200.
